ZESCO’s funding of the company’s sponsored football club ZESCO United will not be affected by the loss of revenue that the company is expected to face due to load shedding. Speaking in an interview with the Lusaka Star, ZESCO team manager George Lwandamina has disclosed that the team’s expenditure was budgeted for long before the company started load shedding. “The team will not be affected in any way because all the expenditure was budgeted for and currently the team is doing well,” Lwandamina said.
The Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation (ZESCO) will lose over US$ 160 million as a result of the power deficit the country is experiencing. Chief Government Spokesperson Chishimba Kambwili said US$ 97 million revenue loss will be as a result of reduced sales to customers and an additional US$ 70 million revenue loss will be due to reduced sales to distribution customers.
