FAZ URGED TO SELECT LOCAL COACH

Former Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Executive Committee Member Macha Chilemena has urged FAZ to select a local coach for the top job as they are capable of heading the national soccer team.

Speaking in an interview with Lusaka Star, the senior sports administrator said Zambia should not depend on expensive foreign coaches because local coaches are the ones that discover local talent.

Mr Chilemena said local coaches nurture and develop young talent which  is then exposed  to the super league and the national team.

He said seeing that  Zambia has had financial issues with foreign coaches it would be prudent for FAZ to identify a potential local national team coach.

Meanwhile, former Chipolopolo Coach Svan Vandenbroeck has taken FAZ to FIFA for failing to pay his five months salary arrears amounting to K600, 000.
