FAZ predicts thrilling 2016 MTN/FAZ Super League

FAZ spokesperson Nkweto Tembwe says the 2016 MTN Super League will be competitive, owing to the fact that the number of teams participating in the league had recently been increased from 16 to 18.
THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) hopes for more exciting and mouth-watering football action in the forthcoming 2016 MTN/FAZ Super League.
FAZ spokesperson Nkweto Tembwe told the Lusaka Star that the 2016 MTN Super League will be competitive, owing to the fact that the number of teams participating in the league had recently been increased from 16 to 18.
“We expect this coming MTN super league to be full of expectations as there will be 18 teams competing with each other, unlike the previous league that saw only 16 teams battle for glory.
“Lumwana Radians FC, a team that is coming in for the very first time is expected to bring in some new flavours to Zambian football and we also expect Lusaka Tigers FC who are coming back after a 14 years absence fully equipped and ready to do battle,” he added.
Tembwe tipped Mufulira Black Pool FC to bring back the famous Mufulira derby that had in the past years been a game to watch, one full of jaw dropping action.
“Other than the two teams, there will also be Mufulira Black Pool coming back … it will be a year full of excitements because Mufulira itself is expected to have a derby where Mufulira Wondrous will be playing Black Pool … historically, this has always been a match worth watching and is likely to bring the entire mining town to a standstill,” he said.
Meanwhile, a University of Zambia (UNZA) student and soccer analyst, Innocent Chishimba, said the 2016 MTN Super League season will to be tough to call, stating that most Division One league teams promoted to the premier league come with a point to prove that they can compete against premier league teams.
“I expect division one teams to bring a lot of pressure and competition to the league … these teams know that once relegated come the end of the season, it will be difficulty to come back into the premiere league because FAZ has restructured the league.
