UNZA STUDENTS URGED TO ENGAGE IN ENTREPRENEURIAL ACTIVITIES

Zambia  Insurance State Coperation (ZISC) Director General and local economist Chibamba kanyama has urged University of Zambia (UNZA) students to  in entrepreneurship following the high number of graduates who are unemployed.

Speaking at an event held on Oct, 30 2018 at UNZA that was attended by hundreds of students under the theme “Mastering your craft, leading by example and cultivating your competence” Mr. Kanyama said the number of graduates who are unemployed has been on the rise in the past years and the government cannot employ all the graduate due to the limited labour force.

“Students remaining with few years to graduation its a chance for you to become innovative and come up with smart business ideas while in campus,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Rozious Siatwambo said student entrepreneurs should try to come up with solutions that fellow student within campus face and capitalise on the problems to come up with business ideas.

He further added that every business has an upside and downside, students should not give up because of the challenges as this will help them think outside the box.

One of the  third year student Misheck Phiri said he has been motivated to start up a business and is looking forward to get on the ground once the capital is available as this will help him in paying his school fees and getting groceries.
