Let’s use music to educate the public on HIV/AIDS – MARKY 2

Zambian music artist Mark Mulaza Kaira popularly known as Marky 2 has called on fellow artists to use music as a tool for educating the public on matters concerning HIV/AIDS. Zambian music artist Mark Mulaza Kaira popularly known as Marky 2 has called on fellow artists to use music as a tool for educating the public on matters concerning HIV/AIDS.

Marky 2 told the Lusaka Star  in an interview  that musicians are opinion leaders who should play a pivotal role in the fight against social adversities as HIV/AIDS.

“Many people listen to Zambian music so using it as a medium to prevent social vices is a good strategy,” said the 29-year-old Copperbelt based performer.

The award winning hip-hop artist said just as artists are used in politics and commercial adverts, they can be used to fight against HIV/AIDS too.

“Society looks up us as artists. Therefore, we can help fight such vices just like we do in politics and commercial adverts,” he said.

Marky 2 advised his fellow musicians against jumping on the music bandwagon primarily for fame and money.

He said musicians should  use the platform  to teach the public adding that musicians should owe allegiance to society, not money.

“Most musicians  have failed to climb the ladder of success in the fast-growing music industry because they entered the competitive industry with a view to a mass wealth first and not to do people a service,” he noted.

Macky 2also  runs the Macky 2 Hope Foundation which supports orphans and vulnerable children.
