NAQEZ SUPPORTS MADAGASCAR’S 500 ZAMBIAN TEACHERS DEAL

National Action for Quality Education in Zambia (NAQEZ) has supported the government of Madagascar to employ 500 Zambian Teachers of English.

In a press statement made available to Lusaka Star, NAQEZ Executive Director Aaron Chansa said the development is highly supported as Zambia has about 40,000 unemployed trained teachers.

“We support this exercise because Zambia has more than 40,000 teachers who are trained but unemployed,” said Mr. Chansa.

He said the deal will create employment and allow these teachers to go and learn other teaching practices and work ethics in Madagascar.

The NAQEZ Executive Director described the development as cross pollination of ideas between Zambian teachers and Madagascan which will help to improve Zambian Education System.

Furthermore, Mr. Chansa said the NAQEZ is confident that Zambian teachers will perform well in Madagascar as they have received good reports about the ones serving in Seychelles.

However, NAQEZ appealed to the Ministry of General Education to make the selection process to be very transparent where everyone will be given chance to compete.

He also appealed to every teacher who is going to be selected to work extra hard in Madagascar so that more countries can start sourcing teachers from Zambia.

Mr. Chansa added that NAQEZ would love to see a situation where our exports (teachers in Madagascar) are given good working conditions.
