THE adoption of President Edgar Lungu as the ruling Patriotic Front’s (PF) 2016 presidential candidate does not intimidate the United Party for National Development (UPND), says UPND Deputy Spokesperson. And a political Activist said the adoption of Edgar Lungu as the PFs presidential candidate in the forthcoming 2016 tripartite elections does not guarantee the party outright victory.

THE ruling Patriotic Front (PF) has quashed allegations by the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) that their Solwezi West parliamentary by-election candidate has gone into hiding for fear of being abducted by PF members. PF secretary general Davies Chama urged the MMD not to accuse the PF of any criminal acts regarding their candidate adding that the MMD had no candidate in Solwezi West. Mr. Chama explained that the PF believed in clean and violence free politics.

THE Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Zambia has urged the Zambia Police Service to bring to book all those who physically attacked journalists and the people that had gathered at Bible Gospel Church in Africa (BIGOCA) on 31 May 2013 in Matero in Lusaka. MISA Zambia Chairperson Nalumino Nalumino said his organisation is highly concerned with the violence by the suspected Patriotic Front (PF) cadres who attacked innocent citizens whose rights include freedom of expression.
