MTN Zambia has donated K20,000 towards the hosting of this year’s Malaila Traditional Ceremony of the Kunda people in Malambo district in Luangwa. In a statement issued yesterday, MTN Zambia chief sales and distribution officer Amos Jere said the company is a sponsor of the ceremony as part of its corporate social investment programme to preserve the country’s cultural heritage.
AIRTEL, Zamtel and MTN Zambia mobile phone users have complained about the number of promotional messages that are sent to their phones without their consent. One of the subscribers, Joseph Musengo, said in an interview with the Lusaka Star that it was irritating that Airtel, ZAMTEL and MTN had continued sending promotional messages at awkward times. Musengo said it was unfortunate that the three mobile phone service providers had continued to disturb the consumers through messages and phone calls to advertise their promotions.
MTN Zambia limited has introduced a mobile banking service that will enable its customers to send and receive money from any part of the country. MTN National mobile money Managing Director, Faith Chisulo, told the Lusaka star in an interview that MTN had started offering mini bank accounts on mobile phones which enable one to buy airtime, electricity, save and transfer money.
