THE University of Zambia Students Union (UNZASU) has said the introduction of University of Zambia (UNZA) inter-hostel football league will encourage students to participate in sports at the institution. The league which began on the 8th of this February 2014  will run from terms two and three of UNZA's academic year over the weekends.

FOOTBALL Association of Zambia (FAZ) Communications Manager Erick Mwanza, says qualifying to the 2014 African Nations  Championships (CHAN) finals in South Africa is of great significance to football development in Zambia. In an interview with the Lusaka Star, Mwanza said the CHAN championship was a very important tournament for football development. Mwanza said the Zambia developmental squad was a good and hard working team with potential of winning the return leg CHAN qualifier match against Botswana.

ZAMBIA Head Coach Herve Renard is confident Zambia will beat Zimbabwe in the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Castle Senior Challenge Cup. Speaking in an interview on CCTV Africa sports, Renard said the Chipolopolo boys were ready for the match and that they would put up a good performance. Zambia beat South Africa 5 – 3 in a post match penalty shootout on Wednesday to secure their place in the final.

THE Lusaka City Council has challenged members of the public to take keen interest in the implementation of the 'Keep Zambia Clean Campaign' to ensure its success. In an interview with the Lusaka Star, LCC Assistant Public Relations Manager, Habeenzu Mulunda said the campaign has not achieved its intended objectives because most people in the community were not taking the campaign seriously.

WHAT happens when University of Zambia (UNZA) students graduate? Is UNZA just to be used as a stepping-stone and forgotten about? Where are the Alumni? The conditions at UNZA are now worse than what most of the Alumni found and yet they still remain silent. UNZA cannot improve without a collective effort. Many students have graduated from the institution since 1969 but how many, really, have taken the time to contribute anything to the improvement of UNZA?
