ZAMBIA National Soccer Team coach Honor Janza has called Israel based striker Evans Kangwa to the 27-man squad that starts camping this Saturday in Lusaka ahead of a must-win African Cup of Nations qualifier game against Mozambique next week. Speaking during a press briefing at football house, Janza said he decided to include Kangwa who plays his professional football at Israeli top side Hapoel Ra' ananain in order to strengthen the Chipolopolo striking force.
Zambia National Soccer team coach Patrice Beaumelle has said that he was impressed with Zambia’s performance in an international friendly match against Japan. Speaking to the media at a press briefing, Beaumelle said despite losing by a goal, the Chipolopolo boys deserved to be praised for a job well done. He added that no one was to be blamed for the 4-3 loss against Japan adding that the loss was a call for hard work.
Katongo, who has also been nominated for the BBC 2012 Africa footballer of the year award, failed to make the final five after voting by national coaches, technical directors and captains. Speaking in an interview with the Lusaka star, Zambia Voluntary Soccer Fans Association (ZAVASOFA) Patron Pastor Peter Makembo said that a petition was submitted to FAZ General Secretary George Kasengele on Tuesday morning and that he expected CAF to answer soon.
