Renard Eyes COSAFA Cup Glory

ZAMBIA Head Coach Herve Renard is confident Zambia will beat Zimbabwe in the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Castle Senior Challenge Cup. ZAMBIA Head Coach Herve Renard is confident Zambia will beat Zimbabwe in the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Castle Senior Challenge Cup.

Speaking in an interview on CCTV Africa sports, Renard said the Chipolopolo boys were ready for the match and that they would put up a good performance.

Zambia beat South Africa 5 – 3 in a post match penalty shootout on Wednesday to secure their place in the final.

The match is scheduled to take place on Saturday 20th July at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium in Ndola.

“Nothing is going to stop Zambia from winning the cup,” the confident Renard declared.

The Zambian trainer revealed that he was not satisfied by just qualifying and playing in the final stating that the boys had to win the championship.

“Considering the tight contest that South Africa waged in the 120 minutes semi final match at Levy Mwanawasa stadium in Ndola, Zambians have every reason to count on the Chipolopolo boys in Saturday’s match,” he said.

Meanwhile, Renard also expressed confidence that Zambia would beat Ghana on September 6 when the two teams meet in their final Group D qualifier match in Kumasi.

“Zambia will travel to Kumasi with a positive attitude of silencing Ghana in the crucial 2014 Brazil World Cup qualifier,” he stated.

Renard said the fact that Ghana have been to the World Cup twice, in 2006 and in 2010 was not a guarantee that the Black stars would make it again by beating Zambia.

Zambia plays Zimbabwe in the COSAFA Castle Senior Challenge Cup final on Saturday, a repeat of the 2009 final which Zimbabwe won 3-1 in Harare.

And the Chipolopolo Boys will take on the Black Stars of Ghana on September 6 with the winner qualifying for the final play-off round which will decide Africa’s five representatives at the 2014 Brazil World Cup finals.
