UNZA to extend application system online

The University of Zambia (UNZA) office of the Registrar has disclosed that the institution will extend the online application system to include all courses.

Speaking in an interview with the Lusaka star, UNZA Customs Relations Officer, Kaputula Gregory said the university is working hard to ensure that all courses are accessible online.

He noted that the online application system is only applicable to a few courses while the rest are still under the old system of paper application.

“The system is already in place for courses like business and the newly introduced foreign languages open to both foreign and local applicants”

“With the availability of the internet, we are likely to have all courses accessible online,” said Kaputula.

He added that the university is mandated to implement the online application system and make it fully operational for the coming in-takes.

He also said that the project is likely to take full effect by 2018 and will reduce on paper work and congested queues as well as facilitate easy access to the institution by distant and foreign applicants.

Mr. Kaputula further, noted that the university is soon expected to increase on the number of students enrolled per program due to new courses being introduced to the curriculum.

Meanwhile, a third year student in the School of Education, Maybin Chilambe, has expressed disappointment with the delayment in upgrading UNZA online application system.

“Compared to other surrounding Universities, UNZA is moving at a very slow pace with technology,” said Mr.Chilambe.

He noted that it is  unfortunate that the countries highest institution of learning still lingers with paper work while other institutions are now offering courses online.
