C/Belt PS advises departments to utilise funds

Copperbelt Permanent Secretary Howard Sikwela said this during a Copperbelt Provincial Development Committee Meeting (PDCC) held n Ndola.

Reverend Sikwela said all the departments on the Copperbelt that would not spend their funds within the stipulated time frame would risk not being given more funds.

“I am urging all implementing agencies to ensure they spend funds immediately they are released to avoid funds being retained to the treasury. All departments that do not spend their money within a reasonable time will not be funded till their funds are spent,” he stated.

Reverend Sikwela also urged procurement and accounts units to ensure quick response to department by quickening the financing process.

He revealed that Government had allocated K89, 345, 969 of which 49,098.22 for personal emolument, k39, 458,098.22 for non-personal emolument while 18,775 has been ringed for feeder roads in districts.

Reverend Sikwela thanked Government for increasing this year’s budget with a sum of K2, 803,855.

Meanwhile, Reverend Sikwela has urged all civil servants to observe time in all their operations to promote  development in the country.

“Colleagues always remember that we are in these offices to serve the public, therefore ensure that you do what you are expected to do whilst in the office. Development is not about infrastructure but how we manage time,'' he said.

His emphasised that there is need  for civil servants to change their attitude towards work.
