Speaking to the Lusaka Star in an interview, HHC co-ordinator Nick Shitima said youth groups are important as they train youths to lead a ‘Christ like’ life.

“Youths must get involved in decent social groups and praise Christ through dance, music, drama, and other activities,” he said

Mr. Shitika pointed out HHC as one such group adding that it embraces and shows youths’ passion for life and Christ through dance and music.

He added that the group also conducts prayer meetings and bible studies to enable the group’s spiritual growth.

Mr. Shitima noted that most youths indulge in negative social vices like alcohol abuse and sexual acts due to peer pressure and other environment factors.

“When growing up in today’s society, youths are continually been exposed to alcohol, sex, violence and a lot of other vices. But social youth groups like HHC serves as an inspiration for hope and change for our youths,” he lamented.

He encouraged the youths to join the group as it was an interdenominational group with members from various churches.

Meanwhile, HHC secretary Tamara Mpatso Shitima challenged youths to join such groups in order to be transformed into meaningful and productive citizens.

She says being a member of the group has helped and encouraged her to put Christ first in all she did stating that she had since become a more responsible person.

“Holy Hip- Hop Community is something that helps stimulate self-esteem especially for us ladies and my dream is that it can be a vessel used to empower females to have a voice in the community and the church everywhere,” she noted.
