This service can be accessed by anyone who has an MTN sim card, possesses a National Registration card and is registered for mobile money services MTN Zambia limited has introduced a mobile banking service that will enable its customers to send and receive money from any part of the country.
MTN National mobile money Managing Director, Faith Chisulo, told the Lusaka star in an interview that MTN had started offering mini bank accounts on mobile phones which enable one to buy airtime, electricity, save and transfer money.
She said transactions will be made at low prices in order to accommodate those that cannot afford to open and maintain bank accounts with banks around the country.
Ms Chisulo said these services can be accessed by anyone who has an MTN sim card, possesses a National Registration card and is registered for mobile money services.
She explained that once someone is registered, their money will be safe since every transaction requires identification in terms of a secret pin which is enhanced by the use of a verification code for any messages from MTN mobile money.
She further said that MTN Zambia had partnered with Bank ABC, Zesco and DSTv in order for customers to easily acess these services.
“These Companies will facilitate our services and in turn they will be able to pay their employees’ salaries through Mobile Money Services by use of corporate accounts” she said.
Ms Chisulo disclosed that MTN intends to partner with Shoprite as well as other food places and shopping centres.
She said MTN also intends to go international by linking up with other countries that provide Mobile money services.
