GOVERNMENT says women are disadvantaged in terms of ownership and control over land despite their major role in food production which makes up for more than 60 percent of small scale farmers. Deputy Minister of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs John Kafuna said government was sad that many of these women did not have ownership and control over land due to inhibiting practices and traditions relating to land.

THE Lusaka City Council (LCC) has expressed confidence that Lusaka will maintain a cholera-free record this year as the local authority has put in place deliberate sanitation measures that will prevent the possibility of any cholera outbreak.   Last year, Lusaka province did not record any cholera case during the rainy season despite floods that hit the city.
